The PSPV criticized the Castelló City Council's renunciation of the subsidy to fight drugs among young people. In 2025, the municipality decided not to request the aid that is granted annually by the Ministry of Health through the National Plan Against Drugs.
The Youth department itself confirmed that the council did not join this aid line. This decision meant that Castelló was left out of the 42 town halls in Spain that received funding through this program.
In total, Spanish municipalities benefited from 4.5 million euros through this subsidy aimed at prevention programs and combating drug consumption among the young population. The PSPV considered this renunciation a significant loss of resources for the city.
