The Portuguese Communist Party warned today that the Municipal Master Plan of Covilhã, which is in public discussion, lacks intermunicipal vision. PCP considers that the document does not sufficiently address intermunicipal coordination issues.
The party states that Covilhã's PDM should better coordinate with neighboring municipalities and with the Serra da Estrela region. This lack of intermunicipal perspective may compromise the integrated development of the region.
The alert comes in the context of the public discussion phase of the document, during which citizens and entities can submit their contributions and criticisms to the plan. PCP took advantage of this phase to express its concerns about the lack of coordination between municipalities.
Covilhã is a municipality in the district of Castelo Branco, located in the Beira Interior region, which includes Serra da Estrela as one of its main natural and tourist resources. The municipal master plan is a fundamental instrument for spatial planning in the municipality.
