The accesses to Rua da Sofia in Coimbra will now be controlled through an automatic license plate recognition system. This system will allow identifying and recording vehicles that enter this street in the downtown area.
Initially, the control will be carried out by security forces, who will manually monitor the accesses. However, the implementation of a similar system to the one that already exists in Rua Ferreira Borges, also in Coimbra, is planned.
The changes are expected to begin on the 10th, the date from which the new access rules to Rua da Sofia will start being applied. The objective is to better control vehicle circulation in an area that is part of the city's historic center.
