The Public Prosecutor's Office of São Paulo (MPSP) carried out on Thursday an operation against a criminal organization suspected of charging bribes to interfere with the analysis and release of tax credits at the Treasury Secretariat of the State of São Paulo.
Two suspects had their preventive detention ordered: a lawyer identified as the leader of the private core of the scheme and a former official who held a position in the upper levels of tax administration until May of this year. The names of the suspects have not been disclosed.
The Court authorized the execution of 47 search and seizure warrants at residential, professional, and business addresses in the capital, Greater São Paulo, the interior of the state, and in Mato Grosso do Sul.
The operation is a follow-up to an action carried out in August 2025 and involves the participation of the Special Action Group for Combating Cartel Formation and Money Laundering and Recovery of Financial Assets (Gedec) and the Special Action Group for Combating Organized Crime (Gaeco).
