The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, stated that the Russian government maintains direct and positive contacts with the United States government under Donald Trump's leadership. According to Putin, there is a constructive dialogue between the countries to maintain a good relationship.
Putin revealed that there have been recent contacts between Russian and American intelligence services, as well as contacts with government representatives appointed by Trump to maintain dialogue with Russia. The Russian president declared that he feels Trump is committed to positive and constructive work.
The statement comes at a time of strong pressure from Europe against Russia. Tensions grew after an attempt to enter German territory with drones, an act attributed to the Russian government.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated that the situation reinforces the European Union's determination to increase pressure on Moscow.
