Olympic and world long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall suffered a "severe concussion" after being involved in a head-on car collision. The 27-year-old American revealed the accident on Wednesday but did not say when it happened. According to the athlete, her vehicle and another car were traveling at approximately 30 km/h when they collided head-on.

Davis-Woodhall said she is taking it one day at a time and still doesn't know if she'll be able to compete in the Ultimate Championship, the new World Athletics competition scheduled for September 11-13 in Budapest, Hungary. The injury occurs right at the final stretch of preparation for the event, which will bring together some of the world's top athletes.

The athlete has paused training because of the accident. When asked about her mental state, she said: "I'm not really sure how I'm doing mentally right now. I'm taking it one day at a time. I haven't trained anything because of this."
