The footballer from Espinho, Beatriz Carvalho, 17 years old and goalkeeper for FC Porto, was selected by national coach Marisa Gomes to join the Portuguese U-20 women's team that will participate in the World Cup in Poland. Beatriz is the daughter of Rui Pedro, former goalkeeper for SC Espinho.
Portugal is participating for the first time in a World Cup in this category, being in Group E. The team left for Warsaw on Thursday morning, September 3rd, with arrival scheduled for 18:25 on the same day. The first training session is scheduled for Friday at 15:00 in Potokowa-Lodz.
The Portuguese team will face North Korea, the current defending champions, on September 7th at 15:00 at Lodz Stadium in Lodz. Subsequently, they will play against Colombia on September 10th and Costa Rica on September 13th, completing the Group E fixtures.
