The Salgueiro Maia Bridge, which connects Almeirim to Santarém, will now have a digital representation to monitor the behavior of the infrastructure over time and assess its conservation status. The project will be developed by Infraestruturas de Portugal in partnership with the company CAEmate, with monitoring by the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering.
The technology used will be Digital Twin, also called a digital twin, which consists of creating a virtual replica of the bridge fed with data collected directly from the infrastructure. Through this solution, it will be possible to gather, cross-reference, and analyze detailed information about the state of the structure.
According to Infraestruturas de Portugal, this technology represents an advanced management support tool that will allow for deeper knowledge about the conservation of the Salgueiro Maia Bridge. The public company states that the implementation of the project aims to monitor the behavior of the bridge over time.
