ULS do Alto Alentejo rejects cuts in Oncology in Portalegre and promises service reinforcement

The Local Health Unit (ULS) of Alto Alentejo came forward, this Thursday, to clarify that no reduction in care provision is planned for the Oncology Unit in Portalegre. This communication arises in reaction to information that had been recently released, suggesting cuts to this service.

The Board of Directors of ULS do Alto Alentejo directly contradicted these news reports, guaranteeing that there are no plans to reduce the care capacity or the care provided to cancer patients at that unit.

According to the same entity, a set of measures aimed at reinforcing and developing the Oncology service are currently underway, instead of any reduction. This position arises in a context of concern regarding the accessibility of healthcare in the Alto Alentejo region.
