Jorge Pimenta, coordinator of the Security Office of the National Health Service, stated that "violence is not acceptable anywhere in society," defending a message of "zero tolerance for violence" in health institutions. The statements were made on the sidelines of the 1st "Security and Health" Meeting, which was held in partnership between the PSP Regional Command and SESARAM.

The superintendent considered that hospitals "are not places for health professionals to be assaulted" and argued that these institutions "should be sanctuaries" in the face of violence incidents. This position comes in the context of an event dedicated to security in the health sector.

The meeting brought together various entities from the security and health sectors to discuss issues related to the protection of professionals working in hospital settings, at a time when cases of assaults on health workers have been reported as a growing problem in Portugal.
