The leader of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, delivered a very harsh reply speech to the president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, in which he blamed Morocco for the migratory avalanche that hit Ceuta in the last days of July. Feijóo accused the executive of not having acted appropriately before a crisis that he considered a real "invasion".
During his speech at the speaker's podium, where he was applauded by the PP benches, Feijóo directly pointed to Morocco's responsibility, stating that "the operation came from Morocco, was consented to and there are signs that Morocco coordinated it and the Government knew about it". The opposition leader considered that Sánchez had information about what could happen and did not act appropriately.
In an emphatic tone, Feijóo addressed Sánchez directly with a clear warning: "Look at me: you will pay for it, before Justice and at the polls". This threat referred both to possible judicial accountability and electoral accountability for what he considered a serious failure in managing the migratory crisis in the Spanish city of Ceuta.
