In the first eight months of this year, approximately 67 thousand hectares were consumed by fire across the country, according to the data mentioned in the article. This number represents a significant decrease compared to the same period last year, when approximately 254 thousand hectares burned.
The reduction in the burned area compared to last year is about 74 percent, which constitutes a substantial improvement in the forest fire situation in the country during this period.
The rain and mild temperatures recorded in the month of August were pointed out as decisive factors for this significant reduction in the burned area. The favorable weather conditions contributed to limiting the spread of fires during that period.
