The Union of Parishes of Alcobaça and Vestiaria carried out, in recent weeks, a set of interventions at the mortuary and in the surrounding area of the Alcobaça cemetery. The works included the washing and cleaning of the exterior of the mortuary, the painting of the surrounding walls and the support house of the cemetery, the creation of speed bumps with crosswalks on all sides of the space and the reinforcement of public lighting.

According to the UFAV, the interventions aim to make the space "more cared for" and "dignified", enhancing the surroundings of the cemetery and improving conditions for those who visit. The executive also reinforces pedestrian safety as one of the priorities of these works.

The executive of the Union of Parishes guarantees that it will continue to invest in improving public spaces and creating better conditions for the community.

Prime Minister Péter Magyar justified the measure by the presence of ethnic Hungarians in the Transcarpathia region in Ukraine, who flee to Hungary. The EU had decided on Ukraine's defensive needs, but Budapest maintains its differentiated reception position.
