Exhibition Room I of the Afundación Vigo Headquarters hosts, from September 3 to October 3, 2026, the exhibition "Fantastic Posters – 10 Years of GFFF with the Jean-Loup Passek Collection". The exhibition is integrated into the celebration of the 10th edition of the Galician Freaky Film Festival (GFFF), which will take place in Vigo between September 17 and 26, and is produced in collaboration with Abella Producións.
The exhibition internationally highlights the valuable collection of the Melgaço Cinema Museum, proposing a visual journey through almost six decades of fantastic cinema and horror. The route includes from the expressionist shadows of silent cinema, such as "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (1920) and "Nosferatu" (1922), to the great titles of the 60s, 70s and 80s, such as "Psycho" (1960), "Rosemary's Baby" (1968), "The Exorcist" (1973) and "The Shining" (1980), revealing original posters and photographs of high artistic and heritage value.
The exhibition showcases how different European graphic schools, from Polish and Czech synthesis to French narrative elegance, transformed the cinema poster into an autonomous work of art, revealing one of the richest visual languages of the seventh art.
The collection was compiled by French critic and historian Jean-Loup Passek and donated to Melgaço. The realization of the exhibition was made possible thanks to collaboration between the festival organization and the Executive of the Municipality of Melgaço, reinforcing cross-border cooperation between Portugal and Galicia.
