B-Rail intends to operate high-speed rail in Portugal from 2029, having submitted its intention to enter this market. However, the Portuguese company fears that competition in this sector may be limited to competition between subsidized public companies, particularly from Portugal and Spain.

This situation raises questions about fair access to the high-speed market and about the conditions for competition between public and private operators. Renfe's entry, a Spanish state-owned company, intensifies B-Rail's concerns regarding the competitive balance in the Portuguese rail sector.
