The resolution approving the Sectoral Program for Acceleration Zones for the Deployment of Renewable Energies was published in the Official Gazette, placing Nazaré among the municipalities covered by the new national map designed to accelerate energy production projects from renewable sources.
In Nazaré's tender, 270.74 hectares are identified for solar photovoltaic energy, corresponding to 3.28% of the municipal territory, and 20.48 hectares for onshore wind energy, approximately 0.25%. In total, approximately 291 hectares are marked under this program.
In the region, Alcobaça appears with 1,176.23 hectares identified for solar photovoltaic, equivalent to 2.88% of the tender, while Porto de Mós is not included in the final list of municipalities with acceleration zones, after the Municipality expressed reservations about the initially presented proposal.
The classification of areas does not mean that the installation of solar farms or wind turbines is automatically authorized. Municipalities will have to reconcile the identified zones with their respective territorial management instruments, namely the PDM, taking into account environmental, agricultural, landscape and urban planning constraints.
