A family in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, England, is devastated after their pet rabbit, called Bramble, died after ingesting rat poison that was in a torn package during an Amazon delivery. The case was reported by the animal's owner, Ian Bevis, 61, a painter and decorator, to the newspaper The Sun.

Bevis had purchased the rat poison pellets after finding rat droppings in his home. According to him, the package opened when it was left in the mailbox and Bramble, described as a curious rabbit, found the product shortly after. The owner stated that the animal had free access to the house and used to investigate anything new.

Bevis told The Sun that the family could not have been out for more than an hour and described Bramble as very special, adding that the grandchildren played with the rabbit in the garden. He also questioned what would have happened if it were a child who found the toxic product.

In messages sent by Amazon and seen by the newspaper, the company questioned why the rabbits were loose knowing the poison would be delivered. The family expressed indignation with the company's response.
