Voter disinterest and right-wing apathy have become obstacles for Flavio Bolsonaro, Quaest director evaluates

Quaest director Felipe Nunes states that voter disinterest and right-wing apathy are becoming obstacles for the campaign of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL). According to Nunes, the keywords of this campaign are engagement and mobilization. Survey data commissioned by the newspaper O GLOBO and TV Globo, released yesterday, indicate that the electorate is still little interested in the race for the Presidency of the Republic.

The numbers are especially concerning for the PL candidate, who does not captivate his own right wing. This is evident in an unprecedented question in the institute's questionnaire. President Lula (PT) is considered a better candidate among the left's options than Flavio is on the right's menu. For 49% of all interviewees, the PT candidate stands out as the ideal option on the left, while the percentage for the son of Jair Bolsonaro on the opposite political field is 33%.

For Felipe Nunes, this difference reveals a strategic problem for the right. He states that the engagement of the right-wing voter appears to be below the engagement of Lula's voter, and that the Lula voter is more excited than the right-wing voter. This, according to the political scientist, directly impacts the expected abstention rates for the election.

Miguel Sousa Tavares: "Do most Portuguese want to topple the government because Luís Montenegro didn't declare the car that his father-in-law gave to his wife?"

Miguel Sousa Tavares comments on the motion of censure presented by Chega against the Government, related to the controversy around the car offered by the father-in-law to the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Montenegro. The commentator considers that the majority of Portuguese want to topple the government for reasons that have nothing to do with this specific issue, emphasizing that he continues to see no reasons for the minister's resignation given what has been made public, and accusing Ventura of being "obsessed" with this issue.

Hungary maintains automatic asylum for Ukrainians of military age contradicting the European Union

Hungary announced it will continue to offer automatic asylum to Ukrainian men of military age (25 to 60 years), contradicting a European Union decision from July. Prime Minister Péter Magyar justified the measure by the presence of ethnic Hungarians in the Transcarpathia region in Ukraine, who flee to Hungary. The EU had decided on Ukraine's defensive needs, but Budapest maintains its differentiated reception position.
