Several suspicious messages sent on behalf of MB WAY, Revolut and Social Security are arriving on Portuguese mobile phones. These communications alert users to alleged problems with their accounts, request identity verifications or promise financial rewards, including in all cases hyperlinks that redirect to external pages.
SIC Verifica analyzed these messages and raises doubts about their legitimacy. The three mentioned entities — MB WAY, Revolut and Social Security — are frequent targets of phishing attempts, a technique used by criminals to steal personal and financial data through fake pages that mimic the originals.
The alerts focus on the possibility of these messages being fraudulent, acting as traps to obtain sensitive information from recipients. SIC Verifica thus seeks to inform Portuguese citizens about how to identify genuine communications and protect themselves against this type of fraud.
