Portugal surpassed the Spanish League in player sales this summer, with the Portuguese League reaching revenues of around 540 million euros in sales, 60 million more than the previous season, while La Liga stayed at 497.6 million euros, a drop of 304 million compared to the same period. This scenario hadn't occurred since the 2022/23 season. Portugal positions itself in the European "Big5", only behind Italy, Germany, France, and England.
The three big Portuguese clubs finished the summer window with a positive balance. Sporting led with 77.57 million euros of positive balance, followed by FC Porto with 22.5 million euros, while SC Braga also closed in the green. Overall, Portuguese clubs spent less than the previous season, investing around 282 million euros against the nearly 395 million from the previous season, resulting in a positive balance of 257.3 million euros, the third highest of the decade.
Sporting starred in a real revolution in the market, breaking records in sales and investment. The lions sold players like Hjulmand, Trincão, Diomande, and Pedro Gonçalves for more than 200 million euros, and spent 123.3 million euros, including the signing of Zalazar from Braga for 30 million. FC Porto adopted a conservative stance, starting the market after the sale of Rodrigo Mora to Roma, closing with 44 million in sales and 21.5 million in expenses.
Benfica, which changed coaches by swapping José Mourinho for Marco Silva, faced the drop to the Europa League after losing the Champions League. The eagles sold for 124.4 million euros and spent 85.2 million, with the sale of Dedic being very important for the accounts. SC Braga achieved a record in sales of 66.1 million euros, driven by the sales of Hornicek and Ba at around 30 million each, having signed Tommy Marqués from Barcelona for 11 million euros.
