The commander of the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP called today for greater investment in support for drug addicts. The police chief considered that the fight against drug trafficking and consumption should not be seen solely as a responsibility of the security forces.
According to the commander, the fight against drugs should also involve the areas of health and social security, in addition to police intervention. This position was expressed in the context of a statement made to the media.
The appeal comes in a context where police authorities face significant challenges in combating drug trafficking in the Portuguese capital, a problem that affects various areas of the city of Lisbon.
