Hugo Soares, secretary-general of the PSD, considered that the motion of censure presented by Chega is "an epilogue of the 'silly season'" and stated that it is ridiculous. The criticism is based on the fact that the party intends to censure the Government before the results of the various inquiries opened into the Minister of Internal Administration are known.
The social-democrat leader also stated that he does not believe the President of the Republic sends messages through friends, commenting on the surrounding political situation.
Hugo Soares' position arises in the context of a period traditionally associated with less relevant news, known as the "silly season", and of a political moment marked by inquiries into the Minister of Internal Administration, whose outcome has not yet been made public.
