Major US medical associations publish vaccine recommendations amid Trump's offensive

The leading US medical associations released their recommendations for seasonal flu and covid-19 vaccines this Wednesday, amid the confusion generated by the Trump administration's anti-vaccine campaign. These recommendations are usually developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), but have lost credibility since Robert Kennedy Jr., known for his skepticism regarding vaccines, took the position of Secretary of Health.

Several associations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Medicine, and the American Society of Infectious Diseases, presented their own recommendations for the fall 2026 vaccination schedule. Sandra Fryhofer of the American Medical Association (AMA) said at a press conference that patients need and deserve clear and reliable recommendations, based on the best available scientific data.
