The Chega party confirmed the political attack on Luís Neves, describing him as being involved in a "mire", with Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and the Socialist Party as secondary targets of the party's strategy.
André Ventura, the leader of Chega, argued that the motion of no confidence presented forces the prime minister to explain the maintenance of Luís Neves in his position, considering that he constitutes "a danger to democracy".
The Chega initiative also aims to exert pressure on the socialists, placing the PS in a delicate position given the political crisis triggered by the motion.
