Greenland's Government issued a warning at the European Parliament that the era of "taking a country" has ended. The alert was given by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Mineral Resources of the autonomous Danish territory.
The minister stated that in 2026 no one should believe they can simply conquer a country, adding that those times are over and that there is a need to respond clearly to that mindset.
The declaration comes in a context of geopolitical tensions, with the autonomous territory affirming its position against any attempt at annexation or territorial acquisition.
Greenland, which is an autonomous Danish territory but has been increasing its autonomy, has been affirming its sovereignty and independence in international forums such as the European Parliament.
