The results of the new round of the Quaest poll, released on Wednesday, revealed a significant leap in the performance of psychiatrist and writer Augusto Cury, from the Avante party, who reached 10% of voting intentions. The result was interpreted by rival campaigns as a sign that the electorate is open to options beyond President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Senator Flaviano Bolsonaro (PL).
Cury's growth caused movements behind the scenes of the other campaigns. Candidate Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), who has been seeking to differentiate himself through his management experience as governor of Goiás, began adjusting his strategies in light of the new configuration of the electoral scenario.
Romeu Zema (Novo) announced that he will return to raising the tone against the Supreme Federal Court (STF), adopting a more confrontational stance. Meanwhile, Renan Santos, from the Missão party, decided to engage in direct confrontation with the new adversary Cury, changing his strategic positioning.
Within Augusto Cury's campaign, the 10% obtained in the poll were seen as a milestone, indicating that the writer managed, for the first time, to reach the undecided voter who shuns polarization between Lula and Bolsonaro. Campaign interlocutors argued that the result demonstrates that Cury's growth curve in recent days has not been artificially "inflated."
