This Wednesday, Pontevedra hosted a rally convened by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) in support of Ceuta, which highlighted a strong division in local politics. While PP and VOX attended the event, BNG and PSOE did not participate, considering that the mobilization represented a partisan use of the federation, as well as of the situation the autonomous city is going through.
The rally took place in Praza de España, in front of the City Hall, coinciding with similar events promoted at the same time in municipalities across the country, on the occasion of Ceuta Day. This mobilization was part of a nationally coordinated action by FEMP.
The presence of former Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy marked the event and generated a small revolution among participants, many of whom sought to take photos with him. Rajoy's attendance highlighted the political dimension that support for Ceuta had reached in this context.
