Mariano Rajoy leads the demonstration in support of Ceuta in Pontevedra, with slogans like "¡Pedro Sánchez, hijo de puta!"

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General2 September 2026 at 20:47

Mariano Rajoy, former president of the Spanish Government, led a demonstration in support of Ceuta in the city of Pontevedra, gathering hundreds of people in Praza de España. The event was marked by local political division, with representatives from the PP and VOX present, while the BNG and PSOE decided not to participate because they considered the rally partisan.

The demonstration was convened by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and featured the reading of a national manifesto by José Manuel López, a citizen from Ceuta who was on vacation in Sanxenxo during those days. The protests took place simultaneously in several Spanish cities, including other locations in the province of Pontevedra such as Vigo, Vilagarcía and Cangas.

During the event, participants shouted slogans such as "Pedro Sánchez, son of a bitch!" and "Lores, go home, you bastard, son of a bitch," showing the confrontational tone of the demonstration in support of the Spanish autonomous city in North Africa.
