The police report on Rabat's role in the Ceuta assault shakes Sánchez before going to Congress

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General2 September 2026 at 20:05

The police report sent to the National Court allegedly indicates the participation of Moroccan gendarmes in the massive assault on the Ceuta border, which contradicts the version maintained until now by the Spanish government. This revelation represents a significant political blow for Moncloa, which had denied any involvement of Moroccan security forces in the migratory events. Doubts about Rabat's role stir the political scene more than a month after the events.

The Director General of Police, Francisco Pardo, publicly questioned the aforementioned revelations, generating even more controversy about the credibility of the report. The police sent the document to the National Court as part of a judicial process related to the migratory crisis.

The revelations came a day before the appearance of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, before the Congress of Deputies, which intensified the political pressure on the executive. The opposition and government partners had already been harshly criticizing Sánchez's alleged permissiveness with Morocco in the face of the crisis.
