The exponential increase in industrial activity in Sines is creating pressure on the population and the municipality's infrastructure. Rents reach two thousand euros and the number of residents has grown 12%, according to the council's data.
The Sines City Council warns that the local population rejects the expansion of factories without adequate conditions being created. The council president, Nuno Castro Almeida, committed to resolving the shortages of nurseries, schools and health services.
Given this situation, the Government was forced to prepare an exceptional public plan to address the problems caused by the industrial boom in the region. The executive acknowledges the need to intervene extraordinarily to balance industrial development with the quality of life of residents.
