Android 17 will prevent your carrier from knowing the sites you visit

SAPO Notícias2 September 2026 at 18:30

Google revealed a set of new network protection tools integrated into Android 17. This update focuses on closing old privacy flaws and strengthening the security of mobile communications against interception.

The main novelty is that Android 17 will prevent telecommunications carriers from knowing which sites users visit. Currently, carriers can monitor users' browsing history through information transmitted in DNS requests.

These tools are part of a broader effort by Google to strengthen the privacy of Android device users. The company has been gradually implementing more robust protection measures with each new version of the operating system.

Android 17 is expected to be officially released in the coming months, bringing these privacy features as part of its main innovations.
