Premier League clubs break record with R$ 23.8 billion in transfers

oglobo2 September 2026 at 18:20

The 20 Premier League clubs set a new all-time record for spending in a transfer window, disbursing approximately 3.46 billion pounds (about R$ 23.8 billion) during the summer market. The amount exceeded the over 3 billion pounds recorded in the previous year, demonstrating the continued massive investment of English clubs in world football.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Nottingham Forest were the clubs responsible for the most expensive signings of the season. Together, these four clubs made four of the 11 most expensive transfers in Premier League history, all involving amounts exceeding 100 million pounds.

Manchester City led the spending, investing 458 million pounds in new signings. Among the club's deals, the signing of Argentine Enzo Fernández, formerly of Chelsea, for 125 million pounds stands out, as well as the acquisition of Elliot Anderson, formerly of Nottingham Forest, for 116 million pounds.

Chelsea also stood out in the market, investing in players such as Morgan Rogers, coming from Aston Villa. Nottingham Forest, for its part, profited from the sale of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, actively participating in the most significant movements of the window.
