According to authorities, 4,757 people remain missing in both Nepal and China. The large number of missing persons indicates that many people may be under rubble or have been swept away by landslides caused by the disaster.
The tragedy affects two Asian nations that share a border in the Himalayan region. Katmandu, the capital of Nepal, was one of the most impacted areas, as were regions on the Chinese side of the border.
