Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the United States' attacks on Tuesday, which resulted in four deaths including a child and a teenager, during a wedding ceremony in Sirik county, in the south of the country, were a "war crime." According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, another 67 people were injured, some in serious condition, after fragments of an American missile hit a house in the city of Kuhestak.
The spokesperson for the US Central Command (Centcom), Navy Captain Tim Hawkins, told the Reuters news agency that Centcom is "investigating" reports from Iranian media about the attacks, but stated that "its military never attacks civilians, unlike the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps."
The attack occurs in a context of military escalation between the two countries, with the USA attacking Iran again in the Strait of Hormuz, and Tehran responding with missiles and drones.
