After more than four hours of discussion about ending the 6x1 work schedule in the Constitution and Justice Committee, opposition leader Rogério Marinho requested a recess, obtaining one additional hour to analyze the project that may benefit President Lula's campaign. Committee chairman Otto Alencar granted the request. Marinho also asked that three separate items be voted on individually.
The proposal's rapporteur, Omar Aziz, presented a favorable opinion and rejected all 36 amendments submitted, most of them authored by the opposition. To expedite approval, Aziz decided to keep the text exactly as it came from the Chamber of Deputies.
During the debate, Aziz clashed with Rogério Marinho, who referred to the government as irresponsible, reckless, and flippant. Marinho, coordinator of Flavio Bolsonaro's presidential campaign, stated that the proposal may lead to unemployment, inflation, and businesses going bankrupt.
The congressman classified the project as a PT power strategy, using labor as an electoral tool.
