Crédit Agricole moves forward with one billion euro lawsuits against Salgado, Morais Pires and Rio Forte

Crédit Agricole, which was the second largest shareholder in BES, and its subsidiary Predica have filed lawsuits totaling one billion euros against Ricardo Salgado, José Manuel Silva Pinto (Morais Pires) and the holding company Rio Forte.

The two ordinary lawsuits were filed at the Lisbon Central Civil Court, where the court must now analyze the compensation claims filed by the two entities of the French banking group.

The case arises in the context of the fall of Banco Espírito Santo, an institution in which Crédit Agricole held a significant shareholder position as the second largest shareholder.

Rio Forte, a company controlled by the Espírito Santo family, is also targeted in these lawsuits, in a process that could have substantial financial impacts for the defendants.
