Estoril Classics is celebrating its 10th edition at the Estoril Circuit, bringing together more than 200 classic automobiles in an event that marks this decade-long journey.
The main highlight of this edition is the McLaren MP4/1 single-seater, considered a milestone in the history of motorsport. This vehicle was a pioneer in the use of carbon fiber in its construction, a technological innovation that would permanently transform the design of Formula 1 single-seaters.
In addition to its technological importance, the McLaren MP4/1 also became famous for being the car responsible for Niki Lauda's return to competition. The Austrian driver, who had suffered a serious accident in 1976, returned to action precisely at the wheel of this single-seater, the article writes.
The event at the Estoril Circuit thus brings together a vast collection of classics celebrating the history of motorsport, with the MP4/1 occupying the central place as a symbol of innovation and sporting resilience.
