Pedro Gonçalves and Bragança leave: only three remain from the 2021 title

Dia de Jogo — jornal desportivo2 September 2026 at 17:21

Pedro Gonçalves and Daniel Bragança left Sporting Clube de Portugal, thus completing a major renewal of the Lions' squad. The two players took different paths, with Pedro Gonçalves moving to another club.

With these departures, Sporting now has only three players in the current squad who were part of the champion group from the 2020/21 season, when the Lions won the national championship title.

These two players had been important figures in the team that won the championship under the command of Rúben Amorim. Pedro Gonçalves, in particular, had been one of the most productive players in the Sporting attack.

The departure of these players marks the end of an era at Sporting, with the club betting on a new generation of footballers for the next season.
