The Portuguese government initially announced that a Portuguese citizen had been rescued alive in Nepal, a week after the flash floods that affected the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that, according to Nepalese authorities, a national citizen had been rescued, with two Portuguese women remaining missing.
However, the information advanced by the Portuguese executive was not confirmed. The Nepalese embassy in Lisbon and the Portuguese consulate in Nepal did not corroborate the rescue version, according to RTP. Nepalese authorities only confirmed the existence of two missing Portuguese women.
The official numbers point to three missing in total, which contradicts the initial narrative of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The situation remains shrouded in uncertainty regarding the exact number of Portuguese citizens affected by the floods in Nepal.
