Uber will lay off 3,300 employees worldwide, 10% of its workforce, to simplify its organization

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General2 September 2026 at 16:52

Uber announced it will reduce 10% of its team worldwide, which corresponds to the layoff of approximately 3,300 people. The company has a workforce of more than 30,000 positions. The news was reported exclusively by Bloomberg and later confirmed to the publication EL PERIÓDICO by sources from the company itself.

This decision is part of the organizational structure simplification strategy that Uber is implementing. The goal is to eliminate hierarchical levels and reduce the configuration of its teams, making the company more agile and efficient.

The mobility and distribution company did not specify in which countries or regions the cuts will be made, but it is one of the largest personnel reductions in the company's recent history. This measure comes in the context of a broader restructuring of the technology and transportation sector.
