The president of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar Branco, defended today that the autonomies of the Azores and Madeira should be strengthened and deepened. The declaration was made during a visit to the autonomous region of the Azores.
Aguiar Branco highlighted that this strengthening of autonomies aims to better serve the island populations and help them overcome existing difficulties. The objective is to create better conditions for those who live in these regions.
The president of parliament considered that deepening autonomy represents a sign of confidence for the islands. He stressed that it is important to give even more power to those who know the local needs.
