Generational renewal tightens on Castellón's countryside: 8 million more for young farmers

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General2 September 2026 at 16:01

The Valencian Generalitat will open a new aid line with an allocation of 8 million euros to facilitate the incorporation of 200 new young farmers in the countryside of Castellón. This measure aims to revitalize the agricultural sector of the region and ensure the rejuvenation of farms.

The announcement follows criticism from the agricultural organization La Unió Llauradora i Ramadera regarding the last aid call for applications, which was resolved this year. This entity warned about the situation of dozens of young people who were excluded.

According to the organization, 41 applications were rejected exclusively due to lack of budget credits. These candidates had passed the technical evaluation and met all the established requirements to access the aid, but could not be considered due to insufficient available funds.

With this new financing line of 8 million euros, the aim is to partially meet the unmet demand from the previous call for applications and encourage the settlement of young farmers in the primary sector of Castellón.
