The Government of Rio de Janeiro opened to the public, for the first time, unprecedented data on state purchases, fleets and trips. The 'Management in Numbers' program, published in the Official Gazette, will make available information that previously only existed within the internal systems of public administration, such as fuel consumption per vehicle, number of official cars per agency, evolution of airfare spending and suppliers contracted by the state government.
The platform is the responsibility of the Secretariat of Planning and Management and features interactive dashboards updated periodically. Anyone can consult the data, without needing registration or request.
The measure is part of an initiative by interim governor Ricardo Couto to increase transparency of state agencies. The data was already recorded internally by the government, but access required technical knowledge and a series of filters to be accessed. The 'Management in Numbers' program seeks to facilitate access to this information for any citizen.
