After the fires that affected the villages of Ardãos, Bobadela and Nogueira, the Agricultural Cooperative of Boticas (CAPOLIB), in coordination with the Boticas Town Hall and CONFAGRI, delivered approximately eight tons of feed for cows, sheep and goats.
Joaquim Vaz, a young producer of cows and sheep in Ardãos, received 17 bags of sheep feed and two bags of cattle feed. The farmer lost 70% of the feed he had for the animals, including hay bales, pastures and fences. According to him, "where the fire passed, it took everything" and the damage was significant, requiring the purchase of straw and waiting one to two years for the pastures to grow back.
Joaquim Vaz states that "all aid is welcome," but the difficulties are increasingly greater. The producer revealed that he once had 300 sheep and today has half that number, facing high expenses with increasingly expensive diesel, in addition to the fires that "destroy everything."
Ana Maria, another farmer in the region with eight cows and a donkey, also thanked the help received. The farmer stated that the feed will last for some time, as she still has some corn and hay, but acknowledges that she will have to buy more if there is no more aid available.
