President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) only defeats Senator Bolsonaro (PL) in the Northeast region and, therefore, is leading the race in the first round. In the second round, however, the two remain technically tied. The data is from the Quaest survey, released on Wednesday, commissioned by GLOBO and Globo.

In the Northeast, Lula leads with 55%, followed by Bolsonaro with 19%, and Augusto Cury (Avante) with 12%. The margin of error in the region is four percentage points.

In the North, Lula has 40%, Bolsonaro 34%, and Cury 6%. Since the margin of error is eight percentage points, the two leaders in the survey are technically tied in this region.
