Lack of hygiene, bugs and damp: 81-year-old woman lives in unsuitable home in Santa Maria da Feira

Mabilde Leite, an elderly woman who is almost 82 years old, lives in a house without conditions in Santa Maria da Feira. The space presents serious problems of lack of hygiene, presence of bugs and damp, compromising the well-being and health of the resident.

The elderly woman has been living in this residence for about 12 years, accompanied by two children. One of them has a disability and the other is unemployed, which limits the family's financial capacity to seek a housing alternative. Mabilde Leite pays a rent of 150 euros for the house where she lives.

The Santa Maria da Feira council has the case on record and is working to find an alternative housing solution for this family, trying to resolve the precarious situation they find themselves in.
