The Terreiro of Vila Nova de Cerveira hosts, next Saturday, September 5, at 9:30 PM, another edition of the Traditional Minhota Cornhusking. The event is an initiative that recovers and values practices, knowledge and customs associated with the corn cycle, as an expression of the cultural and ethnographic heritage of the municipality.
The organization of the event is in charge of the Municipal Chamber of Vila Nova de Cerveira. Cornhusking is a tradition that is part of the agricultural corn cycle, an activity that historically brought communities together to share the work of husking the cobs after harvest.
The event seeks to recreate the customs and traditions of the Minho rural world, allowing participants to know and experience practices that were fundamental in the life of the populations of Northern Portugal for generations. This initiative is part of an effort to preserve and enhance the local ethnographic heritage.
