A new study identified a strong link between gaming addiction on mobile devices and musculoskeletal pain. The research revealed that students who are considered dependent to mobile phone gaming present a significantly increased risk of suffering from physical problems related to prolonged use of these devices.
According to the study, students dependent on mobile gaming are more than three times more likely to complain of neck pain compared to their peers who do not show addictive behaviors. This correlation demonstrates the direct impact that excessive mobile device use can have on postural health.
In addition to cervical pain, the study also showed an even more pronounced association with elbow pain. Students dependent on gaming are more than four times more likely to report discomfort in this joint, suggesting that hands and arms are particularly affected by intensive use.
The research results suggest that back or elbow pain may serve as indicators of excessive mobile phone gaming. Researchers warn of the need to raise awareness among young people about the musculoskeletal risks associated with addictive behaviors related to electronic devices.
