Payshop reinforces leadership in school payments and already covers 800 thousand students

Jornal Económico2 September 2026 at 14:39

The Payshop Prepaid School Card, a payment company from CTT Group, is present in 135 entities and covers approximately 800 thousand students, representing approximately 65% of public school students. The solution, developed in partnership with Edubox and Inovar Mais, is implemented in 129 municipalities and in six parent associations, covering more than three thousand schools across the country.

Until July of that year, 2.4 million loadings were made in the system, in an amount exceeding 54 million euros. The company considers that these numbers reflect the growing use of digital solutions in the management of school services, at a time when schools are preparing for the start of a new school year.

The CEO of Payshop, Ricardo Luz, stated that the growth in card usage demonstrates the trust placed in the company to manage a relevant service for the educational community, and that the achieved reach confirms Payshop's capacity to respond to concrete needs and generate value through innovation.

The card was created to support municipalities in managing the competencies transferred to the education sector, allowing the centralization of payments associated with school meals and other services such as canteens, bars, stationery shops, reprography and vending machines. Enrollment does not require a connection to a banking entity nor does it involve costs for students and families, and activation can be carried out through the Municipal Education Management Platform, at schools or through municipal services. Loadings can be made through the Payshop network, Multibanco or MB Way.
