SAPO Notícias2 September 2026 at 14:24

Felisberto Dinis Navalha took office as the new governor of the Bank of Mozambique on Wednesday, replacing Rogério Zandamela, who served in the position for ten years.

Navalha expressed the intention to hear from the banking sector about the foreign exchange shortage affecting the country, indicating that he intends to collaborate with financial institutions to face this economic challenge.

The change in leadership at the Mozambican central bank occurs at a time when the country faces difficulties in obtaining foreign currency, an issue that has impacted various sectors of the economy.

Zandamela concluded a decade-long term heading the institution that regulates the national financial system, during which he faced multiple economic challenges, including exchange rate fluctuations and inflationary pressures.
